Jarvis Manufacturing was instrumental in the design of RACAL’s Soft Ventilated Tank Helmet, a fire retardant safety helmet that houses acoustic equipment.
Created over 30 years ago, the soft helmet protects personnel within the confines of a military vehicle, while housing acoustic equipment as close to the head as possible - eliminating outside noise.
Over subsequent years, thousands have been manufactured by Jarvis, with different designs created for various countries around the world.
While the Soft Ventilated Tank Helmet (VTH) has been modified in order to accommodate more slimline acoustic equipment, its basic design has stood the test of time and is still in demand, providing excellent protection within modern military vehicles.
The helmet is manufactured in fire retardant materials, soft black cotton drill and plastazote foam, with various webbings for easy adjustment to the head and neck.
The original design was ‘one size fits all’ and applies to 80 per cent of the population. For some countries, such as Germany, larger sizes have been designed and supplied.
