Some three years ago, Jarvis Manufacturing was asked by Ricardo to develop a very special mesh seat and back rest.
Ricardo had been trying to design the product for over a year with little success but, after one month of working with Jarvis, the first prototypes were ready to be tested.
Three months after that, the finished seats were approved by all correct authorities and the first vehicles, Land Rovers, were fitted and exhibited at DSEi in Excel, London.
The special material is similar to trampoline mesh - very hard wearing but lightweight – and the design of the seats allows for valuable storage space underneath, which is vital for vehicles on the front line where so much equipment is needed.
To date, many hundreds of these seats have been fitted in all manner of military vehicles.
